This exercise supports the rotational mobility of the upper back.
By raising your upper body against gravity, you can also strengthen the core muscles.
Greater upper back mobility and strength can help you maintain an upright, stable posture and allow more freedom of movement in your shoulders and arms.
Turning the upper body sideways stretches the chest muscles and provides a much-needed counter-movement to the preventative posture pattern that many people often adopt in everyday life (for example, while working at a desk or computer).
